Workshops

This workshop will help you understand and avoid the common grammar mistakes made by English speakers and help you start to think (and dream!) in French!  

Students will learn or review the basics of French grammar through an accessible comparison with English grammar while reviewing the French grammar terminology and concepts covered at the A1+/A2 levels. 

Prerequisite: A1.3, A2.1, or A2.2 course completed, or A2.1, A2.2, or A2.3 result at the placement test.

Ideal for beginners: you will learn key elements in pronunciation, such as accentuation, links, oral and nasal vowels, semivowels, and difficult consonants.

Discover French Cities through Music" is an engaging 2-hour virtual workshop that takes participants on a musical journey through 5 major French cities. Using an expertly curated playlist spanning from 1960s classics to contemporary hits, students (level A2+/B1) will explore Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse through the lens of iconic French songs. Each city segment combines guided listening activities, regional vocabulary acquisition, and cultural discussions about the places and traditions referenced in the music. The workshop will conclude with a creative collaborative task where students compose a short verse about their favorite French city using their newly acquired vocabulary.

Prerequisite: Students should already have completed the three-part A2 General French series (A2.1, A2.2 and A2.3) or an A2 Review course before registering in an A2+ course. Students who have received an A2.3, B1.1 or B1.2 result on the placement test are also eligible to register

In this course, students will read Antonia — Gabriella Zalapi

Students will be responsible for weekly assigned readings and encouraged to share their questions and impressions on our e-learning platform. During class, the instructor will guide the discussion about the weekly reading, touching on relevant historical and cultural context, character development, major themes, and overall impressions through general questions as well as close readings. 

Prerequisite: General French B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, B2.1 or B2.2 completed, or B1.2, B1.3, B2.1, B2.2, B2.3 result at our placement test
