General French Kids (6-8)
The first year of the A1 beginner program for 6-8 year olds, Les Lézards 1.

For three quarters, along with the textbook and workbook Les Loustics 1 and various action-oriented and creative activities, students will learn to construct simple phrases in French. Topics related to everyday life will allow students to introduce themselves and others, to describe their environment, and to express their feelings and preferences. The workbook also offers a progressive introduction to writing. All activities are conducted mainly in French with an immersive approach.

Textbook (not included in tuition): Les Loustics 1

Prerequisite: Youth A1.1 result at our placement test, or completion of Les Petits Crabes 2. If you wish to start at Part 2 or 3, you will need a Youth A1.1 result at our placement test, followed by an oral assessment with our Admissions Coordinator.

Next course: After completing Part 1, 2 and 3 of Les Lézards 1, students can enroll in Les Lézards 2 in the following academic year.

The second year of the A1 beginner program for 6-8 year olds, Les Lézards 2. Students in the course have basic English reading and writing skills and some basic skills in French—they can use simple phrases to introduce themselves and describe their environment, feelings, and preferences.

For three quarters, along with the textbook and workbook Les Loustics 2 and various action-oriented and creative activities, students will strengthen the basic skills learned in Les Lézards 1 while gaining a broader vocabulary. Topics related to everyday life will allow students to discover more verbal phrases and to approach the future tense and the sense of formality in the French language. All activities are conducted mainly in French with an immersive approach.

Textbook (not included in tuition): Les Loustics 2

Prerequisite: To start this course at Part 1, you will need to have completed the course Les Lézards 1 or received a Youth A1.2 result at our placement test. If you wish to start at Part 2 or 3, you will need a Youth A1.2 result at our placement test, followed by an oral assessment with our Admissions Coordinator.

Next course: After completing Part 1, 2 and 3 of Les Lézards 2, students can enroll in Les Lézards 3 (in the following academic year).

CNED Tutoring at AFSeattle - CE2 (3rd grade) 2026/2027

CNED Tutoring

Destinée aux élèves entrant en CE2, cette classe suit les directives officielles du CNED pour marquer la consolidation des apprentissages fondamentaux. Les enfants approfondissent leur compréhension de la langue à travers l'étude de la grammaire, de la conjugaison, de l'orthographe et de l'expression écrite, tout en développant une lecture plus fluide et analytique. Idéal pour les élèves francophones ou bilingues souhaitant structurer leur maîtrise du français, ce cours est est dispensé par Sarah Grousseau, professeure de l'Alliance Française de Seattle.


Designed for rising 3rd graders (CE2), this course aligns with official CNED guidelines to consolidate fundamental French language skills. Students deepen their mastery of the language by working on grammar, verb conjugation, spelling, and written expression, alongside developing fluid reading comprehension and literary analysis. Perfect for French-speaking or bilingual children seeking a structured academic path, this class is led by instructor Sarah Grousseau.

Conçu pour les enfants entrant en classe de CP, ce cours s'appuie sur le programme officiel du CNED. À travers ce parcours, les élèves consolident leur maîtrise de la langue française en perfectionnant la lecture, la rédaction, l'orthographe ainsi que l'assimilation du vocabulaire. Dédiée aux enfants francophones ou bilingues désireux d'entretenir un apprentissage structuré du français, cette classe est dispensée par Sarah Grousseau, professeure de l'Alliance Française de Seattle.


Tailored for rising 1st graders (CP), this class utilizes the official CNED curriculum to reinforce core French language skills. Students will enhance their reading fluency, writing abilities, spelling, and vocabulary through structured literacy instruction. This program is designed for bilingual or French-speaking children looking to maintain a formal French education with the Alliance Française de Seattle, and led by instructor Sarah Grousseau.

Fall26 - Winter Celebrations (ages 6-10) (FALL3)

Join us for a fun exploration of French and Francophone end of the year traditions! We will learn carols and songs about winter, listen to stories and learn how to make house decorations.

Two sessions of 1h, in-person

Prerequisite: any class at the level A1 or A2 

Recommended ages: 6-10
