Salon des Arts is an informal, drop-in gathering designed to celebrate French and francophone culture in all its forms. We hope you will join us for this cultural open-mic to mingle and share food, music, art, or stories.
Guests are warmly encouraged, but never required, to share something they love: a favorite French song (live or recorded), a short poem or excerpt of literature, a dish they've prepared (or picked up), or a work of art. You are even welcome to share a brief, TED-style presentation on a cherished place, historical figure, or fictional character. Whether you’d like to sign up to share when you arrive, or reserve a spot in advance, all forms of thoughtful expression are welcome.
At the heart of the evening is community: a relaxed, open space for French speakers and enthusiasts of all levels to connect, converse, and enjoy complimentary French wines in a convivial atmosphere.
Whether you're here to present, to practice your French, or simply to enjoy good company, Salon des Arts offers a unique space to engage with the richness of francophone culture.
Join us at the home of AFSeattle members, Micaiah Evans and Kate Gentry, to meet other Francophiles and learn more about various French-speaking cultures!
Date: Saturday, September 27
Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: Micaiah Evans' and Kate Gentry's home in the Ravenna neighborhood
Exact location to be shared upon RSVP
Audience: All French levels are welcome! The event will be bilingual (English and French)
Wine, sparkling water, and light snacks will be provided.
Access to the home includes two short flights of stairs—seven steps each—up from the sidewalk. Some of the steps are uneven, so if you
prefer, we're happy to show you in through the garage so that you can use the interior stairs to access the main floor.
There is a hypoallergenic standard poodle living in the house (no cats); please leave your pets at home (service animals are welcome).
Masks are not required, but they are welcome and respected. Weather-permitting, windows will be open to promote air circulation, and outdoor seating will be available on the front porch and back deck. If you’re not feeling well and cannot attend, please let us know—even at the last minute—so that we can release your seat to someone on the waitlist.
