The Task-Based Approach: Toward Communicative and Engaging Teaching
Join us for a professional development workshop led by
Hedwige Meyer, Teaching Professor in the Department of
French and Italian Studies at the University of Washington, and Alliance Française Instructor. She has co-authored the North American
edition of Défi Francophone (Édition Maison des Langues, 2021), and the
Rond- Point textbook and workbook (Prentice Hall,
2006, 2015). She has also published the following French workbooks:
Supplementary Exercices for French 100 (McGraw Hill,
1995);
Workbook to accompany Rendez-Vous, 5th edition (McGraw Hill, 1998);
Encore des Exercices (McGraw
Hill, 1998);

Hedwige will guide participants through the principles and practical applications of the task-based approach (
l'approche
actionnelle)
in French language teaching.This interactive workshop will explore how to design communicative, task-based lessons that engage students as
active agents in the learning process. Participants will leave with concrete strategies and activities to implement in their classrooms.
